If you have ever served in the armed forces, at some point you may have found yourself in combat, facing the enemy head on, or at least in support of combat forces knowing the enemy is close by. You would be in a mental and physical battle for your life, and for your buddies’ lives.
If you have ever had a life threatening disease, or known someone else closely who did, then you would witness up close somebody fighting for their lives in a different way.
Both are profound, and there are many other examples of situations where people have to fight for their lives through a dangerous period of time. For the record, we never know how we would handle either one of the above, or any other tense situation until we are in the middle of it.
For most people, we simply get up everyday and go about our daily lives, working and coming back home, with the occasional trip or vacation mixed in. So, there is a different fight. The fight to be our best selves.
We have to recognize the downfalls of complacency in our own lives, and negative thought processes.
Most people never reach anywhere near their full potential. Most people never know the freedom that they could have had they learned about leverage and how to build leverage into their lives. With leverage, there is financial freedom, then time freedom and that allows us to live by our own rules instead of the rules laid out by others.
With that freedom comes responsibility. We have to be responsible enough to use our time freedom wisely. Our best selves would be able to maintain freedom in our lives, use that freedom to take care of ourselves and also serve others as much as possible.
So…fighting to be our best selves means not wasting precious time. It means realizing that we can become more if we fight our negative thoughts and develop plans to push through to the success we want to have.
